Happy St. Paddy’s day to everyone. I hope that you are all staying safe this evening and I hope that you are staying away from green beer. Yes, I know it seems awesome on paper, but trust me it doesn’t do a thing for your beer and leaves you with green teeth and other surprises that I won’t get into. However I didn’t come here today to talk about that. Instead I would like to offer an apology for missing last week’s installment. I was unfortunately recovering from illness and it was one of the last things on my mind. I was planning on telling you all about our upcoming show at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago and how excited we all were, however I let it slip by me. But in light of that show I will say that it was an amazing time. I want to thank everyone who made it out Friday to see us. We definitely had a great size crowd to watch us and we had a blast with those that came to hang with us after the set. We met some great guys from other bands and for the record had a fantastic time bonding with our friends The Flips. If you haven’t checked out their music you are missing out on some fantastic music from the chicagoland area.
Talking about this evening brings me to a larger point. I wanted to personally thank you for the support that we receive. Nights like Friday prove to us that we have something worth saying, something worth hearing, essentially validation. Without a core support group we would have nothing to build on for the future, we are truly cognizant of the fact that we will only be successful in the future with fans and supporters like you. We hope that you never feel that you are taken for granted. I can’t thank you enough for supporting our dream/our career and I hope that we can be there for you to celebrate moments in your careers. I know it might be hard to identify this as more than a hobby, but we have every intention of making this our career. That is why we ask you to support us so often, why your support is need and why we need you to help spread the word about us. It the equivalent of you asking us to shop at your store, but\y life insurance from you, support your restaurant, stay at your hotel, bank with you, invest with you, use your lawyer skills, use your home renovation skills, take my car to your shop, or even use you to cut our hair. I would support my friends in as many of these areas as possible, I trust that you would give me a fair deal, great product, etc. What we as Oceans Over Airplanes ask is no different and we are confident that we can provide entertainment and music that can help you enjoy/deal/cope with life. I know that many people might think that I do this because I want fame and money, its really honestly not the case. All I want is to have the life I have right now except make it happen with music as my motor. I am far from rich, don’t make close to 6 figures, however I have everything that I need, like anyone else I just want to provide for my family. I don’t think it is a problem that I want to do that doing something that is calling me. For those that know me, there is something that is different about me when I take the stage, a feeling that I cannot recreate in any other aspect of my life, and that is why I continue to fight to get back on the stage as often as possible. I hope you can come to see the transformation at an upcoming show and I hope you understand what this band is fighting for everyday.
